Welcome to the official blog for Embry-Riddle's first and only liberal talk radio show, "Big Words" hosted by your's truly, Brian Finifter.
The genesis of this show came about during dinner conversation in the Student Center. My friend Travis, a DJ for WERU, mentioned that Sean Mahoney, the host for WERU's conservative talk show, "No Left Turns," was looking for a liberal to debate. I agreed and from there, the thought took hold in my mind about hosting my own talk radio show. With Travis' help, I started the process towards the end of the Fall semester, but finals came and the semester was over before I could get the requisite training on the equipment or be a guest on Sean's show.
However, with any luck, all of these things should be done at the the outset of the Spring semester and it shouldn't be long before "Big Words" is on the air.
And when it is, I hope you will tune in and listen and hear a point of view that all too often goes unheard at Embry-Riddle and in America. Until then, check back here for more information concerning not only "Big Words," but issues concerning politics, government, liberalism, the country, and the world. My goal for this blog is to provide a supplemental forum for information and discussion. I plan on posting source documents and articles that I use and provide a means for listeners to comment on what they hear.
